Hello friends,
Other than my annual Xmas tofurkey, it’s hard to get excited about Christmas anymore. But I do have a couple things going on this year that have gotten me into the Christmas spirit HARDCORE. First is a Christmas song by my favorite band, The Black Swans, called “Christmas Alone” that I sang on, released just in time to accompany many solo nights in front of your netflix, drinking three to five mugs of spiked soy nog. You can listen to it free here: theblackswans.bandcamp.com.
Next is a “A Very Denim Christmas,” a show coming up on December 16th at Rumba Cafe in Columbus with my other band Swimsuit Edition. The second annual (?) “A Very Denim Christmas,” this will be even more ridiculous, with special guests, lots of denim-related costume changes, and many Christmas songs, some classic, and some bizzare and likely to be forgotten, even by the performers. Bring a hot dish! I’m so excited about it. It’s sure to bring a little bit of Christmas cheer, even to the most sad old bitter douches (like me).
Seasons greetings,
Eve

After a long, long, long bout with writers’ block, I finally have some new songs that I tried out recently at shows like the Megacity Music Festival and Independents’ Day. Working 65+ hour weeks has kept me from demoing these songs, but at least the process of another record has started. I also have a boatload of banjo samples I had Tyler improvise for me before he left for Brooklyn. They’re a pile of banjo gold that I can’t wait to mold into weird songs. Working 7 days a week for the last few months has kept me from playing shows, but when Jordan O’Jordan asked me to set something up, I couldn’t say no. It’s Nov 26th at 8p at the best venue ever, Wholly Craft.
Also, I put a couple new videos up under the “music” tab.
See you around,
Eve

Hello friends,
Here’s a new story about Bird and Flower in this week’s UWeekly, an Ohio State student paper. It’s a nice write up and preview of our show at Rumba Cafe this Friday, Jan. 7th, with my two favorite Columbus bands: The Black Swans and Tommy Jay.
See you there! We’re playing first, at 10pm.
Love,
Eve

Happy Holidays, friends!
Music blogs Donewaiting and Each Note Secure teamed up to put together an All-Ohio Christmas music compilation called “A Very Ohio Christmas.” My song is called “Christmas Alone” and it’s a funny song about the perils of going home for the holidays. One of my favorite songwriters, Jerry DeCicca of The Black Swans wrote it for me and I love it.

All proceeds from the compilation go to Gracehaven, a very worthy cause.
Happy Holidays and don’t let Uncle Bob drink all your eggnog.
Love,
Eve

I’m going to have a whole rack of vintage dresses at Summer Flea this Sunday, for cheap. You can pick out dresses from my out-of-control vintage collection before I start selling on Etsy. Here’s a sampling of what I have to offer…

Hello friends,
So I have a mini-tour coming up in a couple of weeks, journeying east to Philly and an amazing show at Zuzu’s in Boston my friend and Boston music vibe guru John set up for me. This would be only my second time playing more than two shows in a row out of town, first without the guidance of my spirit guide Jordan O’Jordan. I’ve had a lot of strong emotions leading up to it, first mild fear (I have bouts of paralyzing shyness/stage fright), then total panic once I realized one of my shows wasn’t going to happen.
I emailed everyone and their hipster cousin trying to set up a replacement show, to no avail. I decided to call off the tour, and felt peaceful resignation and acceptance.
But then two things happened. First, I watched a 15 year old documentary on Kris Kristofferson, which taught me to love the road. Second, I found out from John the amazing show he had planned for me. What was I thinking, wanting to cancel it!?! This is what I want to do! It is not perfect, but oh well. If you want me to play a show in your town, just let me know. I’m feeling pretty down.
So I guess I’ll see you soon.
Love,
Eve

Hello Friends,
Thanks to everyone who came to the Bird and Flower record release at Wholly Craft. As you can tell by the picture, it was a very special evening. My whole family showed up, in addition to almost every friend I have in Columbus, along with a lot of friendly strangers. My mom baked a cake, the master of ceremonies was a juggalo, and I didn’t have a panic attack. It was perfect. It was like my wake, except I wasn’t able to haunt people.
I’m so happy that my first record is finally out! It’s pretty exciting to hold it in my hands. It sounds so much better on vinyl! The cover painting by Brandi looks so good, and the photograph on the back by Michelle looks like it came from an obscure 70’s folk record, which is exactly what I intended.
You can get the record from Sunken Treasure’s store here. It’s only $10, or if you want, they’re offering my record plus the new Black Swans 7″ for only $12. Things are cheaper here in Columbus.
Also, me and the boys are playing our first show in Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky tonight, at the Southgate House with Shiny and the Spoon. You can get the new record from me at my shows, of course. Unfortunately, the extremely limited-edition Bird and Flower cassingles (coming in two versions: “Sad” and “Dance”) are almost out of print, as we ran out of Celine Dion tapes to record over.

This is the new website for the band/art project called “Bird and Flower.”
Please say hi. I’m very friendly.
This is my first real “blog.” Welcome to the 90’s!
Thanks to my friend Scott Parsons for the great website. It’s anticipation of my first album, “Here We Cease Our Motion,” coming out this spring/summer on Sunken Treasure Records (the donewaiting.com imprint).
